Emirates has revealed that it has carried four million passengers from Glasgow to Dubai since the route first launched in 2004. In the past twelve months alone, over 215,000 people have travelled from Glasgow to Dubai with Emirates. The airline also saw a record July in Glasgow, carrying just under 23,000 passengers from the airport on outbound flights.

From Glasgow, the most popular destinations for passengers connecting through Dubai in the last 12 months were Bangkok, followed by Lahore, Singapore, Phuket, Hong Kong and Delhi.

The announcement comes as Emirates recorded its busiest July on record since the airline first started, carrying 265,000 passengers across its six UK gateways. A marked difference from its first year of operations in 1987, when it carried 4,000 passengers in July. The most popular destinations for British travellers included Dubai, Bangkok and Phuket.
