The air route between Aberdeen and Durham Tees Valley is being boosted after new operator Loganair announced plans to enhance the schedule following positive passenger numbers in the first three months of service.
The afternoon schedule has moved back by two and a half hours, departing Aberdeen at 1530 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Thursday departs Aberdeen 1545 returning north from Durham Tees Valley at 1700.. The 1300 service which operates Sunday to Wednesday is now two hours later with passengers able to travel south from Aberdeen at 1530 instead of 1300.
Kay Ryan, Loganair’s commercial director said: “The Aberdeen route has been performing extremely well with excellent passenger volumes, especially as we are operating against a competitor and that we are a new airline to many people in the area. Unfortunately, the Norwich – Durham route wasn’t performing in line with expectations with no signs of improving so we took the decision to withdraw the service this month.”
Loganair is significantly outperforming its competitor airline and carried 66% of the route’s passengers last month.
