ABTA’s Travel Trends Report reveals trends and destinations to watch

The demand for holidays is set to remain strong in 2018 according to a new report from ABTA – The Travel Association. Factors such as squeezed budgets, responsible travel and the desire to try new destinations are expected to impact travel trends over the next 12 months. ABTA Travel Trends 2018, which is based on market information and consumer insights, features the trends set to influence holidaymakers’ habits in the year ahead and reveals the 12 ‘Destinations to watch’ for 2018. The report highlights that despite wider economic issues, holidays are still a spending priority for UK consumers. New industry figures reveal that bookings for next summer are tracking 5% above last year. Research also shows that three in ten people plan to spend an increased amount on travel next year, up 6% from last year. Air Astana will be one of largest Airbus A320neo Family operators

Air Astana, the flag carrier of Kazakhstan, is destined to become one of the largest A320neo Family operators in Central Asia and CIS over the next three years. The airline became the first operator of this type in the region in 2016 and the fleet will grow to 17 aircraft by 2020. Air Astana will then operate 6 A320neo, 7 A321neo and 4 A321neo LR types. Loganair boosts Aberdeen to Durham Tees Valley

The air route between Aberdeen and Durham Tees Valley is being boosted after new operator Loganair announced plans to enhance the schedule following positive passenger numbers in the first three months of service. The afternoon schedule has moved back by two and a half hours, departing Aberdeen at 1530 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Thursday departs Aberdeen 1545 returning north from Durham Tees Valley at 1700.. The 1300 service which operates Sunday to Wednesday is now two hours later with passengers able to travel south from Aberdeen at 1530 instead of 1300.
