United Airlines has inaugurated its nonstop seasonal service between Edinburgh and its Washington, D.C. hub, Washington Dulles International Airport. The flights will operate daily until 4th October.

Marking this special occasion, customers, guests, United employees and crew joined Bob Schumacher, United Managing Director Sales UK and Ireland and Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport for a special gate celebration which included a Scottish piper welcoming the first passengers from the United States and a water cannon salute as United flight 147 departed Edinburgh for Washington D.C.

United flight UA147 departs Edinburgh daily at 1230 arriving at Washington, D.C. at 1550 the same day. The return flight, UA146, departs Washington, D.C. daily at 2210 arriving in Edinburgh at 1025 the following day.

Flight times are 8 hours westbound and 7 hours and 15 minutes eastbound and will be operated by the Boeing 757-200 featuring 69 seats – 16 flat-bed seats in United Polaris business class and 153 in Economy, including 45 Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space.
