EasyJet has revealed expansion plans in Scotland, confirming that a ninth Airbus A320 family aircraft will be based in Edinburgh and five new routes will serve both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The new aircraft will remain based in Edinburgh throughout the year, providing 340,000 more seats. It joins three 156-seat Airbus A319 and five 186-seat A320 aircraft already serving the airline’s customers in Edinburgh.

The announcement follows the news that easyJet will commit a fifth aircraft to its Glasgow base.

The airline has also announced five new routes from Edinburgh to Gibraltar and Catania and from Glasgow to Barcelona, Dalaman and Pula.
